Giraudo-Chassagnite 4tet - Bird Feathers (IMAGO PRODUCTION 2017)

C’est un témoignage important de toute une époque et une approche du jazz que nous livre ce disque produit par le guitariste Olivier Giraudo, entouré de trois légendaires musiciens de la scène jazz française, dont deux nous ont quittés depuis cet enregistrement. François Chassagnite, trompettiste hors pair adoubé par Chet Baker lui-même et la rythmique de rêve Luigi Trussardi et Charles ‘’Lolo’’ Bellonzi, qui accompagnèrent les plus grands jazzmen américains et formèrent pendant dix ans l’ossature de l’orchestre de Claude Nougaro, se retrouvent autour du guitariste pour une séance où sont présentes complicité et joie de jouer ces magnifiques standards. Une musique à la fois légère et dense, un témoignage-évènement. 

With this album, produced by guitarist Olivier Giraudo we are witnessing an important period of jazz and a particular approach of it. Olivier Giraudo is surrounded by three legendary musicians of the French jazz scene, among which two have passed away since this recording. François Chassagnite, a master trumpet player which was recognized by Chet Baker himself as an upcoming wonder in the 80’s, and the dream rythm section of Luigi Trussardi and Charles ‘’Lolo’’ Bellonzi, who played behind most of the great American jazzmen and were for ten years the back bone of the famous French « poetry & jazz » singer Claude Nougat are working together with the guitar player for a session where you can hear a real complicity and the joy of playing these wonderful pieces. The music is strong and light at the same time, a testimony event.
