Walt Weiskopf: Walt Weiskopf European Quartet (2018)

For more than a decade Walt Weiskopf has been part of the legendary band Steely Dan. Weiskopf took over the seat after Chris Potter, and has thru that position made some name for himself.

Weiskopf has realeased more than 10 albums in his own name, featuring jazz icons such as Brad Mehldau, Bill Stewart and John Patitucci.

Weiskopf has chosen to work with a European trio that are considered state of the art.

Winther, Lang, Mogensen are all three well estimed jazzmusicians, and known as the Best swingin' trio around Europe. They have individually toured and recorded with jazz greats such as Kevin Hays, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Jerry Bergonzi, Bob Berg, Brecker Brothers, Lew Soloff, Tim Hagans, David Liebman.

Pianist/composer Carl Winther dedicates this album to his father, legendary Danish trumpeter/composer/bandleader Jens Winther, whose untimely death February 24, 2011 stunned his fans.

Award winning jazz pianist/composer Carl Winther (b. 1984 in Denmark) has already established himself in the international elite instrumentalist circuit of younger generation. Growing up in a musical family with his father, renowned trumpeter Jens Winther (1960 – 2011) Carl embarked on his professional music career while still a teenager performing and recording with Billy Hart, Jerry Bergonzi, Bill Evans, George Garzone, Adam Nussbaum, Dick Oats, and Doug Raney to mention a few.
