HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Welcome to Rabbitnews' first edition. We've signed you up for this newsletter because you previously subscribed to an artist who is on Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit Records. This newsletter will be sent out once a month to keep you up to date on all things Rabbit. This will provide you with the opportunity to know what your favorite artists are up to as well as any exciting label news we have to share. We're so looking forward to connecting with you all!  NEW RELEASES

February will be a huge month for us at Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit, with artists Arnan Raz and Daniel Meron both releasing their sophomore albums.

Arnan's Chains of Stories drops February 2nd (2/2) and will feature tunes including 'Two Words One Soul' and a cover of Shalom Chanoch's 'Ella'.

Daniel Meron's solo album This Was Now dropping February 28th (2/28), is all about being in the moment, quieting your inner critic and allowing true inspiration to lead. The album is also available for pre-order on Bandcamp, and iTunes.

NEW VIDEOS

Last November, Rubycon debuted the video for their single 'Buku Love'. The mesmerizing video was exclusively featured on Atwood Magazine's site, calling it “a perfect introduction to the band’s juxtaposition of fun frivolity and deeper meaning.” Keep up with the band on Spotify and Apple Music.

Zoo Berries' (Ayal Tsubery) video for 'Back in Time' came out earlier this month. This is the first out of four videos from their upcoming EP, featuring Nadav Peled on guitar, Peter Kronrief on the drums, Hailey Nisewanger on saxophone and Daniel Meron on the piano.

NEW PLAYLIST

Jonathan Greenstein's Vol. 2 released in November of last year featuring the single 'Once You're There'. Within its first week, the single was among a number of hand-picked songs highlighted on Spotify's official State of Jazz playlist last December and now has over 170,000 streams.

In many ways I see myself as a storyteller. Each one of these melodies is like a little tale, a way for me to take all these feelings, arrange them as sound in time, and present them to you in a song. It’s me, opening up to you, sharing what I feel and how I understand the world, and hopefully giving what you feel a name, a sound, a melody. 

Like a good story, I wanted it to have enough space for you to use your imagination to make this music your own. These songs are really for you as much as they are for me. And the core of the song is the melody. That’s the main thing for me as an artist. 

People like to look down on Miles Davis, saying he plays the melodies wrong, or think Monk’s phrasing is funny, that Duke’s writing is corny, Wayne’s melodies are too abstract. That’s all wrong. The reason we connect with these artists on such a deep level is the gift of melody. If I can give you a melody, a song, it’s like I’ve given life to a dream. 

Neil Gaiman wrote that the right song can turn an emperor into a laughingstock, can bring down dynasties - and he’s right. I see myself as a singer and melody is paramount for me. Having facility is nice, but can I really tell you a story or sing you a song - that’s how I want to connect.

Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit Records proudly announces the January 29 release of “Vol 1”, the first of three EP’s saxophonist and composer Jonathan Greenstein plans to release over the course of this year. Inspired by the speed in which Indie and Electronic musicians can now produce new material, Greenstein has turned his focus to releasing more music, documenting his artistic journey and connecting faster to his growing audience. The three part series is an exploration of modern jazz drawn from a palette of modern sounds. Along with Greenstein, Vol 1 features guitarist Gilad Hekselman, pianist Victor Gould, bassist Or Bareket and drummer Mark Whitfield Jr.

With an emphasis on the song, Greenstein’s music offers a fresh take on lyrical melodies and dynamic uses of space against flexible frameworks that push the boundaries of the traditional jazz form. Vol 1 begins the cycle with its roots

planted firmly in the modern jazz idiom with a wink of the grooves to come in Vol 2, eventually concluding with a distinct new beat to be heard on Vol 3.

“Vol 1 is a summarization of the past few years of my life and dreaming of what’s to come in song,” says Greenstein, “…it’s a quest to become part of the listeners life.”

Greenstein’s influences range from Rock and Hip Hop to Electronic and Alternative- all of which can be heard in varying degrees on the jazz foundation he’s laid in Vol 1’s six tracks. This cross-genre exploration is evident not just throughout the EP but also throughout the songs themselves. Particularly  "Helpdaynastephens.org in Gm, Prelude” takes the listener from atmospheric Electronica to a hard-hitting rhythmic cacophony fronted by the captivating Whitfield before settling into a pulsing groove reminiscent of J. Dilla. Equally entrancing is Greenstein’s reimagining of Bjork’s ethereal “Who Is It” where he trades her signature cathedralesque bells for intricate reworking performed by his innovative quintet.

Contributing to his identifiable style are his jaw-dropping, energetic live shows that are known the bring audiences to their feet. Vol 1’s release will be marked by a special engagement at New York City’s famed Rockwood Music Hall on January 28.
