In 2020 – 2021, a pandemic shut the world down. The music venues and theatres were rendered silent as live music performances stopped. The lack of gigging along with stay at home orders gave us opportunity to explore other outlets of music making. As musicians, this led to a huge technology learning curve. We purchased a few good recording mics, an interface and began to record and perform from home. We had more time to listen to our vinyl collection and began to re-appreciate listening to great musicians playing the standards on vinyl. We rehearsed by playing and singing through the Jazz Fake Books and found ourselves inspired to add more standards to our repertoire (with our own twist). Then we realized we had the capability to record a full album from home and had been given a gift of time to do it … so, voila - You & I
