Hervé Samb - Time To Feel (2013)

Source: Macdan
Label: Such Productions

- Thierry Doc Mac -

Michael Sarian - Subtitles (2014)

Source: CdBaby
Label: Pulled Pork Records

Michael Sarian's music combines vibrant rhythms from his native Argentina with the complex language of modern jazz infused from his current New York City environment. The resulting mix compels you to listen closely while restraining (or not) the urge to dance your ass off." Alan Ferber, Grammy-nominated composer and trombonist.
Michael’s passion for developing new work drew him towards education, and by the age of 23, in addition to continuing to perform, he became a full-time music teacher at one of the top international schools in Argentina.(...)
Relocated to New York City in 2012 to pursue a master’s degree in Jazz Studies at New York University, Sarian studied with great musicians such as Laurie Frink, Alan Ferber, Brad Shepik, Ralph Alessi and Mike Rodriguez. During his time at NYU, he was fortunate enough to have played and recorded with Joe Lovano, Alan Ferber, Lenny Pickett, Billy Drewes, Mike Richmond, and Wayne Krantz, to name a few.Proud to finally present his debut album as a leader, Sarian explains that "Subtitles" is a universal translation of the many influences and sounds heard from around the world and on the album. But really from the fact that when I was younger I used to mumble a lot, and still do today. My friends always said they needed subtitles to understand what I was saying. Now I feel like my music is my subtitle.

Third Rail - Ignition (2014)

Source: CdBaby
Label: Aerohead Music

THIRD RAIL is a collaboration between 3 extraordinary musicians: George Whitty on keyboards, Janek Gwizdala on bass, and Tom Brechtlein on drums. Collectively they’ve worked with a huge array of the biggest names in music: The Brecker Brothers, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, John McLaughlin, The Zawinul Syndicate, David Sanborn, Robben Ford, John Mayer and many more. Playing a book of tunes composed by George and Janek, Third Rail brings a huge, intense sound to the stage; the music is much richer, and much wider, than one might expect from 3 musicians. The songs are much more than just excuses to play some funk music; they're very rich harmonically and melodically, and the band explores every corner of each one. This disc was recorded on Third Rail's tour of Germany in December, 2013. Each concert was recorded to a multi-track recorder, the best performances of the 12 nights were picked, mixed from there and a great CD was born. Recorded in Germany, Austria and Prague, a number of these takes are available on George Whitty's self-named YouTube channel.
