“Standards” es el nuevo disco del guitarrista Albert Vila, una cuidada selección de temas escritos por nombres de peso en la historia del jazz donde el guitarrista catalán también ha querido incluir un título de composición propia. Piezas firmadas por Mal Waldron, Cole Porter, Bill Evans o John Coltrane fluyen ofreciendo una música honesta y verdadera. Lo hace con la altura necesaria para evidenciar que el formato de trío de guitarra todavía puede decir muchas cosas en el contexto del jazz actual. Con “Standards” Vila nos hace una propuesta que, aunque podríamos definir como clásica, deja fluir sin problema su visión con un fraseo moderno y una personalidad acentuada por el sonido y el temperamento de su guitarra. Con dos acompañantes de lujo, el contrabajista Reinier Elizarde y el batería Jorge Rossy, Albert Vila consigue un resultado sorprendente, donde el mejor jazz nos llega desde la sonoridad cercana de un trío al servicio de las ideas de un músico inquieto y extremadamente creativo.

“Standards” is the new album by guitarist Albert Vila, a careful selection of songs written by big names in the history of jazz where the Catalan guitarist also wanted to include a title of his own composition. Pieces signed by Mal Waldron, Cole Porter, John Coltrane and Bill Evans come together to offer honest and true music. Such an outstanding selection was needed to demonstrate that the guitar trio format could still say a lot in the context of jazz. With “Standards” Vila offers us what could be defined as classical, which enables his vision to flow without any problems with modern phrasing and a personality marked by the sound and temperament of his guitar. With two luxury companions, Reinier Elizarde the bassist and drummer Jorge Rossy, Albert Vila gets a surprising result, where the best jazz comes from the sound of this trio in the service of ideas from an extremely restless and creative musician.
