In addition, the influence of world music is present. Influence from specific artists such as Miles Davis, Beethoven, Milton Nascimento, Jean Sibelius, Charlie Parker, Ornette Coleman.
Jazz and Classical hybrid style also drawing from traditional folk and world music.

Michael Haudenschild (geboren 1992 in Bern) begann mit 7 Jahren eine klassische Klavierausbildung. Kurz darauf entdeckte er die Improvisation und wechselte zum Jazzklavier. Mit 16 Jahren trat er in die Talentförderung Musik des Gymnasiums Hofwil über. Gleichzeitig begann er mit dem Vorstudium an der Swiss Jazz School und schloss 2014 den Bachelor an der Hochschule der Künste Bern ab. Momentan absolviert er den Master of Composition & Arrangement und nimmt Unterricht bei Colin Vallon, Hans Feigenwinter und Django Bates. 2016 verbrachte er sechs Monate in New York, spielte und nahm mit Musikern wie Philip Dizack auf und nahm Unterricht bei Aaron Parks.
2014 wurde Michael mit dem Friedl-Wald Stipendium ausgezeichnet und gewann den 1. Preis der Piano Competition für junge Jazzpianisten der Hochschule Luzern. Als Pianist und Komponist ist er in verschiedenen Projekten tätig. 2015 produzierte er mit der Band Nojakîn deren erstes Album. Im August 2016 erscheint die erste EP seines Trios E-Scape.
E-SCAPE
Nie gesehene Landschaften formen, nie gehörte Klangflächen suchen und neue Horizonte ziehen. Der Pianist Michael Haudenschild steht mit seinem Trio E-SCAPE am Beginn einer Reise in seine eigene Klangwelt. Die erste Etappe ist dabei die EP „Rise“, die im August dieses Jahres erscheint. Mit subtil eingesetzten elektronischen Effekten wird das akustische Spektrum von Flügel und Rhodes erweitert. Der Bandname ist Programm: E am Anfang steht für Elektronik, SCAPE kommt vom englischen „landscape“ für Landschaft.
E-SCAPE ist ein fulminantes, energetisches Abweichen von der Norm. Ein Klangerlebnis, bei dem es kein „Entkommen“ gibt.

On this successor to his 2010 album, Synaesthesia, pianist Sam Crowe has added some New York muscle to his lineup – with Kairos 4tet's Adam Waldmann and Oxford guitarist Will Davies joined on sax by US-resident Brit Will Vinson, genre-crunching downtown drummer Mark Guiliana and bassist Alan Hampton. It's a set of robust originals in which Crowe writes impressively for the sax/guitar voicings that made Synaesthesia stand out, and his tunes are lifted here by the extra firepower. The backbeat-driven title track features Vinson's soulful alto and Davies's shapely reflections; the chiming, floaty Gaia engages Crowe and Hampton in an elegant dance; and Guiliana's hip-hop precision marshals the riff-melody of The Global Brain. Occasionally the plethora of clever sounds seem like a throng of characters in search of stories, but Crowe is a maturing compositional force and his A-list players rise to his challenges.

Across a career spanning four decades, it would seem easiest to consider the musicians with whom Jeff Williams hasn’t worked. A respected stalwart of the international jazz circuit, the American drummer has notably rubbed shoulders with Stan Getz, Dizzy Gillespie, Lee Konitz, Dave Liebman, Randy Brecker, John Abercrombie and Joe Lovano.
Williams has graced innumerable New York and London stages over the years, making frequent Atlantic crossings between the two cities. In his latest solo project, the accomplished band leader and composer collaborates with both seasoned and up-and-coming colleagues from the UK: Josh Arcoleo (tenor saxophone), Phil Robson (guitar), Kit Downes (keys) and Sam Lasserson (basses). This engaging album of originals prompts a dynamic quintet response to a variety of energized compositions.
His third album for Whirlwind (following 2011’s Another Time and 2013’s The Listener), Williams’ Outlier combines previously unrecorded works from the ‘70s and ‘80s – such as the driving, fusion-laced ‘Dream Visitor’ and Brazilian-hued ‘Hermeto’ (after Hermeto Pascoal) – with more recent, equally assertive compositions. As an experienced leader at the kit with an instinctive, deeply-imbued jazz sensibility, Williams coaxes intelligent, colorful interplay from his colleagues. As Jeff confirms: “It always astonishes me what these guys – leaders in their own right – bring to the music that I write. They find things I didn’t even know existed.”
The scope of this imaginative working band ranges from the smouldering, Joe Henderson-influenced oscillations of the title track ‘Outlier’ to the relentless ‘Oddity,’ which swings with unbridled vitality. The straight forward beauty of ‘New and Old’ recalls poignant memories with tender detail. Also a pianist, adding Rhodes to this album, Williams describes ‘Meeting a Stranger’ as “one of those rare tunes that came out whole”. Possessing a wide brashness, ‘The Interloper’ exudes a joyful, Monkish abandon.
Like all masters of a genre, Jeff Williams has profoundly internalized the traditions of jazz without being tyrannized by its conventions. Combining his influences and broad experience to form his own unique voice, he refuses to constrain himself to a single stylistic approach. Most vitally, he wants his audience to respond to his music emotionally: “It’s my continued vision – my aim to offer something that’s universal but also personal, and which might transport the listener into a realm that’s pleasurable and thought-provoking. It’s important to me that, within the construction of the music, there’s a feeling and a warmth to be discovered.”

"Listening again to this album as I sit and write this a mere neighborhood away from the one with which this quartet shares a name, I think again of the staggering number of inventive musicians based in or closely associated with Brooklyn. For most musicians here this is beyond a cliche in 2015. Yet, as I spend roughly half the year playing music outside of Brooklyn it occurs to me that while devotees of creative music / improvisation / etc might have a surface-level notion about this, the true extent of this only reveals itself after one spends significant time spent here, and even then still only to a fractional extent. I imagine trying to play once a year with every musician around here who is either a friend, acquaintance, or someone I admire, and I'm not sure how I'd do it.
Michaël, Max, and Jeff are three of those friends with whom I am fortunate to play and they're pretty appropriately matched here, as I know all of them as irrepressibly and indefatigably creative; this recording definitely confirms that. Eva and I met years ago when we both were beginning to make our own inroads here. We've both since found ourselves enveloped by this community. Her playing and musical direction on this record establish an atmosphere of fecundity.
Not all the music made in these neighborhoods sounds like this. It's a particularly apropos fuse, though. Thanks for listening".

Are you OK? è un disco di jazz contemporaneo registrato a New York da Luca Nostro con alcuni tra i più noti musicisti americani, molto attivi, sia
come leader che come sidemen, in formazioni considerate dal pubblico e dalla critica tra le più innovative nel panorama jazzistico statunitense e
mondiale: Donny McCaslin, John Escreet, Joe Sanders, Tyshawn Sorey.
La scena musicale newyorchese è continua fonte di ispirazione per Luca, la cui idea compositiva è quella di costruire strutture musicali movimentate e modulari in cui innestare temi brevi e incisivi, quasi pop. L’improvvisazione si sviluppa così su idee melodiche semplici e riff ritmici ripetuti concatenati in modo complesso attraverso l’interplay tra i musicisti.
La musica di Are you OK? è ispirata anche da alcune opere di Steve Reich, Frank Zappa, John Adams, Michele Tadini e Jacob TV che Luca ha suonato insieme al Parco della Musica Contemporanea Ensemble (PMCE) di cui fa parte da tre anni. Luca ha anche collaborato e registrato con Scott Coley, Antonio Sanchez e Mark Turner, per citarne alcuni.
La registrazione, il missaggio e il mastering sono stati fatti da Mike Marciano e Max Ross nello studio Systems Two di Brooklyn, uno degli studi più importanti per il jazz, dove hanno registrato, tra gli altri, Chick Corea, Clark Terry, Brandford Marsalis, Ravi Coltrane e molti altri.
Saleem (Roy Hargrove Quintet and the Roy Hargrove Big Band — Hargrove plays trumpet and flugelhorn on The Groove Lab) says only plays jazz, but also funk. Really, if a bass is available, he’ll play it.
However, the sound of the album, and the thought process behind it, is best expressed by Saleem and the other musicians who appear on the album, including Cyrus Chestnut on piano, Rhodes, Wurlitzer, and organ; Jeremy Clemons handling drums and percussion; Stacy Dillard on tenor and soprano sax; Gregory Hutchinson, also on drums; Craig Magnano on guitar, and Mavis Swan Poole and Ramona Dunlop on vocals. “Some music is timeless,” Saleem says. “And hopefully this is, also.”

Indonesian jazz pianist Sri Hanuraga (Aga) strikes again with a new
album, “To The Universe”. On this album he is using European musicians:
Mattia Magatelli (double bass/electric bass), Kristijan Krajncan (drums)
and Rodrigo Parejo Mateos (flute). This album contains original songs
and some folk songs which are brilliantly re-arranged into challenging
jazz compositions. The album is recorded in Amsterdam, mixed and
mastered by Paul Rutschka,
Sri Hanuraga is am emerging Indonesian talent and versatile both on
acoustic piano and electric keyboards, in jazz, ethno-jazz, fusion and
progressive rock formats.
Sri Hanuraga has performed with several of his projects all around
Indonesia, South-East Asia and in Europe (Holland, Belgium, Germany,
Poland, Hungary, Romania, France, Monaco).
At the age of seventeen, Aga began to study Jazz piano with Indra
Lesmana, the leading Jazz pianist in Indonesia. During that period he
won the first prize at the JGTC Competition, and performed at some major
Jazz festivals in Indonesia including the International Java Jazz
Festival 2005. By nineteen, he moved to Amsterdam to study Jazz piano at
the Conservatory of Amsterdam. In April 2006, Aga won the soloist prize
at the East of Eastern Jazz Festival in Nijmegen and January 2009 again
he won the second prize in the YPF Jazz Piano Competition (judge :
Jacky Terrason, John Taylor, Antonio Farao, Enrico Pieranunzi and Bobo
Stenson)
2011, Aga was awarded with the “The Indonesian Young Talent Award” by
the Java Jazz Festival. Soon after that, he won The European Keep an Eye
Jazz Award 2011 for the category “Best Band” with the Daniel Master
Quartet and June 2011 Aga graduated summa cum laude (10 with
distinction) from the master program in Jazz piano performance at The
Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
His main jazz piano influences are Herbie Hancock, Brad Mehldau, McCoy
Tyner and the Indonesian piano icons Dwiki Dharmawan, Riza Arshad and
Indra Lesmana.
