Debut album ''Interchange'' by the Floris Kappeyne Trio (CHALLENGE RECORDS 2017)
The Floris Kappeyne Trio was set up in 2015 by the pianist. In the past two years, the trio consisting of separate Prinses Christina Concours winners (2012) has made audiences smile with their witty arrangements of old jazz standards. Next to winning the Prinses Christina Concours they are winners of the Gigstarter Talent Award 2016. This prize is part of the of the yearly Red Light District Jazz festival, Amsterdam
During the last year, the trio has worked on achieving an authentic conception by combining the classic sound of the McCoy Tyner trio from the sixties with Senegalese sabar rhythms and abstract ideas from modern classical music. The result is presented on this debut-album consisting solely of original compositions.

With grant support from the French-American Jazz Exchange Program, Cuban-American saxophonist Yosvany Terry and French pianist Baptiste Trotignon present a unique and exciting program inspired by the rich and diverse musical traditions that emerged from the African Diaspora in the United States and former French colonies in the Americas. Named Ancestral Memories, the project captures the rhythms, melodies, and harmonies of the Caribbean, New Orleans and French Louisiana, re-imagined through 21st century aesthetics and a jazz sensibility.
Ancestral Memories also comprises Terry’s longtime rhythm section of his brother, bassist Yunior Terry and Power House drummer Jeff “Tain” Watts, the most influential drummer of his generation. The quartet will toured the US in the Fall of 2015 and in France during June 2016.
Nominated for a Grammy for Best Latin Jazz Album, New Throned King, Yosvany Terry’s most recent album, was based on a similar concept and seamlessly blended modern jazz with the ceremonial music of the West African and Cuban Arara culture.

The Jazz Cruise and Blue Note At Sea Will Serve as the Presenting Sponsors of the 2017 Vail Jazz @ Vail Square series.
Two of North America's preeminent jazz festival producers - the Vail Jazz Foundation and Entertainment Cruise Productions - celebrate 10 years of partnership with the announcement that The Jazz Cruise and Blue Note At Sea will serve as the Presenting Sponsors of the 2017 Vail Jazz @ Vail Square series. The 23rd annual presentation of the Vail Jazz Festival will feature over 70 performances between June 9 - September 4, 2017, and Vail Jazz @ Vail Square serves as the Festival's summer-long, flagship series, showcasing the genre's most prolific talent week after week.
The nine-week series is held in the enchanting Bavarian-inspired village of Lionshead, situated at the base of Vail Mountain. In similar fashion, The Jazz Cruise and Blue Note At Sea will sail on the top-rated luxury cruise ship, Celebrity Summit, to showcase the world's most celebrated jazz musicians in unparalleled venues.
Vail Jazz has found not just a kindred spirit in Entertainment Cruise Productions, but a treasured friend and partner. The organizations share a focus on creating unique listening experiences for passionate jazz fans, as well as a similar taste in artistic excellence (Vail Jazz Party House Band members John Clayton, Jeff Clayton, Terell Stafford, Wycliffe Gordon, Bill Cunliffe and Lewis Nash all appeared as featured performers on the 2017 Jazz Cruise). Blue Note At Sea, sailing January 27 - February 3, 2018, features living legends of jazz including Chick Corea, Marcus Miiller and David Sanborn alongside the hottest of the new generation of greats like Robert Glasper and Leslie Odom, Jr. Ports of call include Labadee, Haiti, St. Thomas, U.S.V.I, San Juan, Puerto Rico and CocoCay, Bahamas. The Jazz Cruise, sailing February 3 - February 10, 2018 is dedicated to the very best straight-ahead jazz around including Monty Alexander, Kurt Elling, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Arturo Sandoval, Niki Haris and so many more. Ports of call include a special 24-hour stopover in New Orleans, LA and Cozumel, Mexico.
